New Gear
A bunch of new gear. We’ve picked up some nice new gear. Most notably a Manely Vari-Mu and a TK Audio SSL style buss compressor, only cleaner than the original. More of our gear here.

The artist and violinist, Laurie Anderson has release her new record, Homeland. Its a great mix of subtle and not so subtle social commentary, electronics, and great song writing. I worked in her studio from 2006-2008 and was a studio technician for parts of the record. It was almost ten years in the making but worth the wait.
Great new records mastered for Ben Goldberg trio with Charlie Hunter. There are a bunch fantastic records coming out by early next year mastered at spleenless mastering.
Check out Anne Adams and Laura Gibson talk about their new records, spleenless mastering, and stealing shoes on Williamette Week Local Cuts.
Another fun year at the TapeOp Conference in Tuscon Arizona. I was panelist for the the digital mastering panel. I put together a simple mastering overview pdf that you’re welcometo download. (TapeOp champs Hillary and Larry are left speachless in their silent stare down. )
Congratulations to Horse Feathers who were nominated for THE PLUG AWARDS for “Best Americana Album of the Year.” It’s such a rich record that was an obsolute pleasure to work on! (A fun night…, R-L, Kevin O’Connor, Justin Ringle, and myself)
The Sad Machinery of Spring (Hannibal/Rykodisc) The new Tin Hat record is released! It’s a wonderully quirky journey into the old world of hand cranked instruments, minature violins, and narative melodies, with special guest Zeena Parkins (Bjørk) on harp.
